Foiled...twice....

Just a notice....I'm finding there is not much to talk about each day during the winter on the homestead.   OK, it's not like I can't talk a blue streak if motivated, but honestly, there isn't much going on and I can't see talking about the chickens every day.  Boring?!   Yes, they are cute and funny, but not every day.  So, I hope everyone out there will allow me to go to a weekly blog entry, but I'll add more pictures so it seems more fulfilling.  I'll go back to every-other-day when the activity here picks up.   Of, course, if something really EXCITING happens, I'll get it out there, lickity-split.

Today was to be an exciting day.  We headed out to take on a full day and fulfill a wish on our list for 3 years.

It was a foggy and overcast morning, with rain forecast for the next 3 days.  I took this picture of the sun through the fog.  There was frost all over, with small patches of leftover snow from last week.  I find it amazing that the sun was all but invisible.

This trip was to be the day we paid off our homestead.  Was, because the banks were against us. And, probably a little our fault because we were naive enough to believe we could do it.  I did look up the pay-off amount online and knew we had the money in the bank.  Forgot one BIG thing.  Should've had a cashier's check ready for the amount, not a check from our checking account.   Bank holding the loan...turned us away!

There are no credit unions of ours up here, but ours does have a share agreement with one in Show Low and we headed there for a cashier's check.   So, tried there.  Turned away.  They have an amount limit of the sharing it seems, and we were over that.  So, we were foiled in our lofty attempt, but not defeated.   We will make the trip to the valley, again, and get it done soon. Looks like the celebration dinner is off tonight....

Rain on the way home.  Heaven sharing in our misfortune?.....

Still, we had a tiny celebration tonight...

Made an apple pie and later, we'll get out the vanilla ice cream, cut a few slabs and wallow in a sugar high.

Must plan for a really BIG celebration dinner when it finally happens.....
