Ready, set.....

Whew!  We made it through the last few cold days and came out on the other side.  We even fit in a 40th Anniversary celebration dinner at the local country club.  Nice!

Still, wondering what weather we're going to see each day has made some plans tough to stick too.  We rushed to get the troughs in and ready to plant while we had a few hours of some sun.

Weed blocker down...

First shovel-full of cinders FINALLY removed from pile...

A little fighting with the wind to get cinders onto the cloth...

Troughs onto pad and garden soil going into them...

Garden soil watered to get it to compact and top off with more soil...

Steer manure topping off the mountain of work we (Steve) did...

Whew!!  A lot done in one day and finished just as the sun was being crowded out with more dark clouds.

I'm sure Steve never expected this much work, but now that these troughs are in, I can start prepping the garden and await warmer weather.

I know he'd rather spend retirement taking the 5 ton out for spins, but getting the greens started for the chickens, and us, will soon be on auto-pilot and then he can drive through the mountains without a care in the world...

...until I come up with something else for him to do....

*snicker*
