Happy Halloween...

Snow flurries hit our place last night, but just for a few minutes.  Then, the rain started. It kept coming down until 4 this morning, when Ziva decided she had to chase some coyotes away from the homestead.  Needless to say, Steve was a little tired today after that early wakeup.  I, of course, didn't hear a thing; notice a thing.  Earplugs, the BEST invention ever!

This weather had me wondering about the Halloween Trunk-or-Treat in the park tomorrow.  If we can believe the weather stations, it may be clear tomorrow. Which means it'll be freezing for the kids.  Lots of hot chocolate will be chugged tomorrow night.

We didn't get the inside decorated for the holiday, but we did put out a warning. It may even be too cold to leave him out overnight.  No trick-or-treaters will be coming by anyway, so only Steve and I will enjoy this display. As I've said before, we sure do miss the valley at Halloween. Not scaring kids... missed!!

The freezing has produced different consequences, as in the 3 pictures below...

The girls are largely skimpily feathered...

The squash plants are gone!  Yippy!!

The broccoli is loving the cold and doing well...

Yeah, what is it with broccoli and cold?  More florets are appearing and the plants are looking even stronger than during the summer.  The cherry tomato plant in the same trough has frozen back so the microclimate can't be the only saving grace.  Still, the leaves are welcomed treats by the girls.

Well, now I'm heading back to the garage to gather more Thanksgiving and Christmas decor.  I've got 2 trees up and warming before decorating them. One more to get and several boxes of baubles.

Oh, Steeeeveeee.....
