No snow... depressed...

OK, what is pretty-much missing from this picture?  OK, yes, the chickens are missing.  In this case, it's the snow.  It's pretty-much missing.  There is that little tad in the upper right of the picture, but we are very much out of snow.   After that last snowstorm I was almost certain that we'd keep getting snow for a while; it is afterall the year of the El NiƱo.  The garden is NOT getting it's promised rest and recovery for the winter.

Something DEFINITELY missing from the picture are the birds that were in the birdhouse that came tumbling from the tree next to the garden.  This house had Pygmy Nuthatches in it.  I hope they moved to a free house on one of the other trees.  It was very loud when it fell, too, and it broke.  Steve is going to try and repair it during the winter.

Steve is also getting the lights up, as he promised a while ago.  I guess he ran out of excuses.  I get a little giddy when Christmas lights go up.  The colors at night just scream out "it's Christmas" and the darkness in the mountains really intensifies their beauty.

We did the holiday shopping yesterday and came home with a BIG surprise. We came home with a 28 pound turkey.  A 28 POUND TURKEY!!  It must've been huge before it was processed.  I'm thinking we will definitely have enough for all the family expected to show up...

... well... there are several guys with hollow legs coming...
