Dashing through the snow..... flurries....

We went to the valley of the sun for Christmas with family.  Left here with visions of warm and sunny weather... only to be met by cold and windy.
Oh, well.  Such are the weather extremes of Arizona.

Christmas morning was at Grandma's (Great-Grandma's for these kids) and was warm and cozy... it's what you get when you stuff 22 people into a room made for 4.  It was handled by arranging for shifts of adults to go outside while the kids opened their gifts.  I think they were all satisfied by their haul.

A couple of our grandkids doing some goofing off here.  It sure was a fun time and seeing the California group made it even more special.  We were remarking on how tall some have become, and some were remarking on how wide we've become.  OK, me!  Steve had many comments on how thin he's becoming.  I'd like to hate him, but can't.  Love him in any condition he's in.

Headed home the next day and the weather did some more changing. Climbing out of Payson and...

...we found the snow starting and the clouds descending below us.  Pretty soon we couldn't see more than a couple feet in front of us.

Then, the winds started whipping up the snow flurries and the Christmas we had hoped for was beginning, or so we thought...

Arriving on our mountain, we were met with a beautiful, sunny day.  We could, however, see at least 2 days worth of snow.   I love this shot before the tires made ruts in that gorgeous snow.

We're sitting in front of crackling logs (courtesy of our friends Ken and Susan) and vegging.  It's going to be VERY hard to find any of that gumption I keep talking about.....
