Back on our regular schedule...

It seems like the work around the homestead has picked up from the Winter rest, so I'm going back to the Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule.   Let's see if we can get this place back into shape after Old Man Winter's forced time off...

This weekend it was time to get the new beds topped-off with their peat moss, perlite and steer manure. Whew! What a smell.  You'll notice that both beds aren't quite finished... we ran out of construction adhesive before all the cap blocks were set.  But, we soldiered on...

After getting the amendments added, Steve jumped up on the beds and turned everything in.  I thought we were done and...

... watered it all in.  Thinking we were done here, at least for a while, I started on other work.  Well...

... we seemed to have a problem.  The water just DISAPPEARED!  It didn't run out through the blocks because of the caulking.  No, it went straight through the bed and into the ground.  I did finally remember that we had some gopher tunnels under the straw bales last year and I guess one opened up and swallowed the water and some soil.

WHAT NEXT!??...
