We'd bought another nesting box as there seemed to be a line for the one we had. Well, some of that line was just Effie trying to get under the nesting hen and eat her egg. But, I digress. We decided the best spot for it was the window by the door. Here, Steve's removing the window screen.
Doing a "dry run" for placement. This window opening is thinner and taller than the other. It required some adjusting.
Surprised he fit into the house, but it was the only way to get the screws into the flanges.
It's all in and the screening was put back up, but on the outside of the window. I'm going to have to make a curtain so there is some privacy. Also have to buy a plastic dish pan to side in for easy cleaning.
When I got the chicks, they'd live in Ziva's dog crate until they're able to go outside. This WAS the plan, but that was before Ember came along. She can reach through the cage bars. Of course, she has no claws but that may still be a problem.
What to do?....
