You... Me... and TV.....

So, what's the MOST important thing to have in the mountains, other than food and shelter?   RIGHT!!  A TV.  How do you LIVE without it giving you an incite into world events and culture?

Ours just went out and we were finding ourselves sitting and staring at each other.  NOT a pretty sight.  It could've been SO much worse as it could've gone out while the grandkids were here.  SCARY!

We made a special trip to Show Low today and replaced that piece of junk now sitting idle in the family room.  Steve hopes to find out if it's worth saving and using in another room.  We'll see how that plan goes...

My thoughts on the tomato cages for zucchini.  The idea was a good one and I will use them again but NOT in beds full of other squash.  As the picture shows, you cannot find the zucchini that should've been clearly visible if there are MOUNDS of leaves from the other squash over the zucchini.  There have been a few whoppers there because I didn't see them in time.

I might look for ways to shorten the distance between the metal loops around the tomato cages, as it was hard to get the zucchini leaves to reach them.  By the time they did reach, they were stiff and hard to get into the hoops without snapping them off.  Maybe I can put a ring of metal halfway between the 1st two rings to catch the leaves while smaller.  Anyway, something to contemplate over the Winter.

Under that heavy canopy of leaves my butternut squash crop is taking off. I've been putting cradles under the squash that are on the dirt to keep them from sitting in water when irrigation water is deep.  Several are being coaxed to stay on the cement block borders around the bed.  Several are hanging like Christmas ornaments between the bed and the ground.  Several are trying....

... to leave the garden and thinking they can head through the fence and escape.  Ha!  I'm working on getting them back through the fence.  They are determined, though, and defying me.  May be time to lasso them to their netting "T" posts... but, just for their own good...

... yee haw.....
